William

Blinderman

Obituary

William “Bill” Blinderman, 74, passed away on May 14, after a long illness. He was born in Norwich on June 28, 1937, growing up in that area. He lived and raised his family in the greater Hartford area, including Bloomfield and East Hartford, prior becoming a resident of the Hebrew Home in West Hartford. Bill was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a life-long member of the insurance industry, having worked for some of the leading companies as an independent agent, and receiving the industry’s highest awards. He was passionate about sports, especially baseball, but most importantly passionate about his family. He was an avid Boston Red Sox, UConn and Hartford Whaler fan. Bill’s love for baseball led him to become an umpire, rising to the high school and collegiate levels. He was a long-time member of Teferes Israel synagogue in Bloomfield. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Doreen, who selflessly cared for him for many years. He is also survived by his four children: Eric Blinderman, of Fairfield, Adam Blinderman and his wife, Marj, of Rye Brook, NY; Marc Blinderman and his wife, Patty, of Raleigh, NC; and Juliann Harris and her husband, William, of West Hartford. He was a loving grandfather to 10: Ryan and Tyler Blinderman; Maddy and Katie Blinderman; Danielle, Joshua, Jake, Lily Blinderman; Elijah and Talia Harris. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow at the Teferes Israel Cemetery in East Granby. Condolences can be paid at the home of Juliann Harris, 99 Parsons Dr., West Hartford, immediately following the service and on Friday, May 18, between 2-6 p.m. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Hebrew Home, as well as the Hebrew Healthcare Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hebrew Health Care, 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, CT 06117.

Dear Doreen, Eric, Adam, Marc and Juliann,

Sincerest condolences on your loss. Doreen, you don't know us, but we were old friends and long time neighbors on Banfield Lane, in Bloomfield. I remember all of our kids hanging out together. I hope you guys have a slight recollection of who we are, at least by our name. We were at #31 at the other end of the street (and you were at the beginning).

I remember Billy as a fun loving guy who was always the life of the party. We were very close, but as everyone started to move, we all lost touch. Too bad ...
