Dr. William Kasler, of Westview Drive, Bloomfield, husband of the late Ellen (Katz) Kasler, died Friday (January 6, 2006) at home. Born in Duluth, MN. He was raised in Boston and won the 1938 Boston Herald Spelling Bee. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Menifee. Dr. Kasler was a graduate of William & Mary College in Virginia and Temple University Dental School in 1951 and had practiced dentistry for over 35 years in East Hartford. He is survived by a son, Dale Kasler and his wife Twila Morris of Sacramento, CA; two daughters, Robyn Kasler and her husband Robert Pearl of Warren, Paula Kasler and her husband Simon Brafman of Palo Alto, CA; a sister, Mary K. Zimmerman of Middletown; two granddaughters, Miriam Brafman and Hannah Kasler; and several nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by a dear friend, Yetta Simon. Funeral services will be Monday, 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., with burial in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield.
