William Schnur, 91 years of age, of West Hartford died November 2, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Jacob and Rebecca Schnur.
Will was a World War II Veteran who was wounded in battle and awarded 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. In 2011 he was awarded the Legion of Honor by France for his contribution to the liberation of France.
He leaves his loving wife, Doris (Handelman) Schnur; his children, Donald N. Schnur and his wife Toni of West Hartford, Alan Schnur and his wife Deborah of Clinton, and Elizabeth Lucyk and her husband Mark of West Hartford; six grandchildren: Craig Schnur, Jason Schnur, Jessica Schnur, Alex Lucyk, Sam Lucyk and Charlie Lucyk; and a great-grandson, Anthony Schnur He was predeceased by a son, Michael Schnur and his sisters, Rose Ehrlich and Helen Satlin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4th in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at 6 Lyman Road, West Hartford between noon and 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hebrew Health Care, 1 Abrahms Boulevard, West Hartford, CT 06117 or to the charity of your choice.
