William Schnur, 91 years of age, of West Hartford died November 2, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Jacob and Rebecca Schnur. Will was a World War II Veteran who was wounded in battle and awarded 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. In 2011 he was awarded the Legion of Honor by France for his contribution to the liberation of France. He leaves his loving wife, Doris (Handelman) Schnur; his children, Donald N. Schnur and his wife Toni of West Hartford, Alan Schnur and his wife Deborah of Clinton, and Elizabeth Lucyk and her husband Mark of West Hartford; six grandchildren: Craig Schnur, Jason Schnur, Jessica Schnur, Alex Lucyk, Sam Lucyk and Charlie Lucyk; and a great-grandson, Anthony Schnur He was predeceased by a son, Michael Schnur and his sisters, Rose Ehrlich and Helen Satlin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4th in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford.
