Ann-Louise (Diamond) Richman

RICHMAN, Ann-Louise (Diamond), 76 years of age, of Newington, CT departed this world on Friday, June 14, 2024. Born in Hartford in 1948, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Doris (Levine) Diamond.
Ann-Louise spent several decades working as a dedicated administrative professional for the Glastonbury Public School system. When she transitioned to a new position as event planner for the Old State House in Hartford, she brought with her both an exacting eye for detail and the magnanimous spirit for which her colleagues loved working with her. The last part of her professional career was spent teaching young children, an extension of her lifelong devotion to caring for others.
Though small in physical stature, her spirit cast the shadow of someone twice her height. Ann-Louise was endowed with an enormous capacity for love and warmth, and she took great pride in her roles as mother and grandmother. Tirelessly supportive of her twin sons, her four grandchildren, and her large group of friends across Connecticut and beyond, Ann-Louise radiated kindness and generosity. In the last decades of her life, she often could be found playing cards or kibbitzing with her extensive network of friends. She was always the first to offer counsel in times of darkness and uncertainty, a guiding hand and bright light of comfort for those blessed to know her. She relished these social connections as she nourished others with her warmth and infectious sense of humor. Nothing made her happier than feeding her friends and family (except, perhaps, humbling them with her remarkable skill at Monopoly). Her kitchen issued forth all manner of desserts, cakes, pies, and frozen treats; the legacy of her signature chocolate chip cookies, which never ceased to delight “Mimi’s” four grandchildren, will live on.
She battled and then conquered cancer late in her life with the courage of a warrior, impressing and inspiring her doctors with unflappable positivity. She loved children, dogs, baking, cards, conversation, and human connection. Ann-Louise was self-effacing and humble to the last, more comfortable celebrating the achievements of others than dwelling in the spotlight herself. Though mild by nature, when it came to her children she fought with unflagging fortitude on their behalf, making them stronger by her example. She will be missed by all who had the fortune to know her.
She leaves her brother, Richard J. Diamond with his wife Pamela Gilman of Framingham, MA; her sons, Adam Richman with his wife Katie, and Jared Richman with his wife Jessie; and four grandchildren: Aden, Addison, Samuel, and Emma Richman. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Congregation B’nai Sholom Memorial Park, Jordan Lane Ext., Wethersfield with Rabbi Andi Fliegel officiating. A memorial period will be observed at her family home, 88 Miami Avenue, Newington on Wednesday following the interment through that evening.
