Barry Bernstein passed away peacefully on September 2, 2022 at the age of 68. He was the devoted son of Alan and Evelyn Bernstein. Barry was born in Hartford on May 20, 1954, grew up in Bloomfield and was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and the Morse School of Business. Barry enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry working for Aetna, Cigna and United Health as an IT programmer after abandoning his career in phlebotomy, realizing that drawing blood was better left to leeches and vampires. Barry was a diehard fan of the UConn Huskies, Boston Red Sox and New York Giants as well as any team his nephews and nieces played on. Barry loved to travel, especially to Aruba were he made many friends and to Disney World where the child in him always shined. He was a very special uncle to his nephews and nieces and enjoyed taking them to movies with their favorite candy on hand. He introduced them to Broadway with several trips to New York to see the latest production and have the best meals. Barry was predeceased by his parents. Barry is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Carrie Bernstein, of Mansfield, as well as his nephews and nieces, Aaron, Lauren, Carly and Jacob. Barry is also survived by his wife of 31 years, Cathleen Bernstein of Rocky Hill, who provided comfort and support during his final days and his aunt, Sheila Walter and her husband Herb of Vancouver, Washington.
