Barry Neil Gordon (78) of Farmington, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2019 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Betsey Auerhaan Gordon and son of the late Anna (Siegel) and Hyman Gordon. Barry graduated from Weaver High School and went on to the University of Connecticut to study Pharmacy. He worked as pharmacist in his own store, Thrifty Drug of Newington and then went into the Drug Enforcement Agency for the State of Connecticut. After his retirement, he decided go back to working in pharmacy at Bordonaro’s. He was also an Air Force veteran.He was a man of many passions and talents: he loved to fly planes, sail boats, hunt, fish, do computing, cook, and spend time with family. He was also an educator at heart; he taught photography courses, computer classes, Hebrew School, as well as being a boating safety instructor.In addition to his loving wife Betsey of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Amy Hirschberger and her husband, Steven, of Harwich MA; son, David Gordon and his wife, Ruta, of Iselin, NJ; and his sister Sandra Perlman of West Hartford, CT. He enjoyed sharing stories, traditions, and meals with his five grandchildren, Jenna, Anjali, Jacob, Kavita, and Austin. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at noon at Congregation B’Nai Shalom Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT followed by a shiva meal at B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom, 180 Still Road, Bloomfield, CT.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barry Gordon’s memory to the Alzhiemer’s Association at act.alz.org
