On Sunday January 15, Bennett Miller, MD passed away at age ninety-eight after a brief illness. He grew up in York Pennsylvania, and attended Harvard College. He left his studies to enlist in the Army, entering the ASTP officer training program. When this program was discontinued he entered the army as private first class, serving as a Browning Automatic Rifle Man in the Battle of the Bulge. He completed his degree after the war and also attended medical school in Boston. He practiced pediatrics in Hartford and Bloomfield for thirty-five years. He and his wife Elaine moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in the mid 1980’s where he practiced general medicine in a walk-in clinic for another twelve years.
Bennett was a lifelong runner, starting in the early 1960’s. He was an avid golfer, tennis, and Bridge player, continuing these activities well into his nineties. He was proud of performing in the Lake Worth Playhouse production of Broadway Bound. He ran the great books club in his community of Atlantis for many years.
Bennett was predeceased by his wife Elaine (Goodman). He is survived by his sons Brad, Jeffrey and Michael, two daughter-in-laws, Laura and Barbara, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford on Wednesday January 18 at 1pm.
