Bessie (Gurwitch) Fabian, 91, of Fox Hill Drive, Rockville died Saturday, (August 4, 2007) at Rockville General Hospital. She was the widow of John Robert Fabian. Born in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late David Lee and Hinda Gurwitch. Bessie and her late husband owned and operated Fabian Drug in West Hartford and Rockville. She was a former National Treasurer of Alpha Zeta Omega Pharmaceutical Fraternity. She was treasurer of Congregation Knesseth Israel in Ellington for over 40 years, and she was the oldest volunteer in the Gift Shop at Rockville General Hospital, volunteering from 1969 until the present. She ran the cribbage and Friday bridge games at Rockville Senior Center, she was a life member of Hadassah, a member of the Bess and Paul Sigel Hebrew Academy in Bloomfield, and a member of Congregation B’nai Israel of Rockville. She leaves two sons, William Fabian and his wife, Helene of Newington, and Martin Fabian and his wife, Ann of Nashua, NH; a daughter, Elaine Acker of Somers; a sister, Mildred Weinberg of Louisville, KY; seven grandchildren, Ronda Guberman and her husband Jay, David Fabian and his wife Renee, Brad Fabian and his wife Tami, Amy Roy and her husband David, Michelle Fabian, Jessica Fabian, and David Lee Acker; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Roy, Zachary Roy, Mason Roy, Tyler Fabian, Allie Fabian, and Lily Guberman; and several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, at a time to be announced in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in Beth David Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at her home, Monday following the funeral through Tuesday evening, and each child will conclude shiva at their respective homes Wednesday and Thursday.
