Betty Anne Lister Salner died on October 15, 2015 at her home at The McAuley in West Hartford, CT. Mrs. Salner was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1921 to William and Esther Lister. She graduated from Girls High School in Philadelphia and received a B.A. from Temple University. She married Dr. Nathan Salner in 1941, and they had a long and loving life together. He died in 2005. A longtime resident of Bala-Cynwyd, PA, Mrs. Salner was a dedicated volunteer and held leadership roles for many national and regional organizations including the National Council of Jewish Women, Phoenix House, Action AIDS, Wheels, United Way of PA, and Martin’s Run. During WWII, Mrs. Salner served as a civilian volunteer in the US Army Antiaircraft Artillery Command as an airplane spotter. Dr. and Mrs. Salner moved to West Hartford, CT in 1998. She continued her volunteer service as president of the Residents’ Association at The McAuley. However, most important to her was her love and devotion to her family. Mrs. Salner is survived by her brother Dr. Jules Lister of Waltham, MA; three children and their spouses: Madge Weisberg Conway and Tom Conway of White Plains, NY; Sherry and Larry Linhart of Longboat Key, FL; and Dr. Andrew and Patricia (Madfis) Salner of West Hartford. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren Ali Weisberg Zelenko and her husband Dan, Jill Weisberg, Jon Linhart, Matthew Salner, Emily Salner Bolton and her husband Jason, and Elisabeth Salner. She also survived by four great grandchildren, Mason and Leo Zelenko, and Rosalie and Violet Bolton. In addition to her husband, she is pre-deceased by son-in-law Fredric Weisberg, grandson Adam Linhart, and brother Albert Lister. There will be a memorial service on November 1 at 11:30 AM at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Following the service, the family will receive friends at 1 PM at The McAuley, 275 Steele Rd, West Hartford.The family will observe a memorial period at the home of her son and daughter-in-law on Sunday and Monday evening at 6-8 PM.
