Carol Susan Cunin, 80 years old, of Simsbury, Connecticut and Tucson, Arizona, passed away on July 5, 2021 at her home in Simsbury. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of the late Maurice and Elizabeth Lazarus. She leaves her beloved husband, Dr. Burton Cunin, three stepchildren, Joseph Cunin and husband, Sylvan, Elizabeth Kartsen and husband Douglas and their children Nathaniel and Kaitlin, and Benjamin Cunin and partner, Martha and Benjamin’s daughter Sofia. Carol also leaves her nephews Jeffrey and Michael and his son, Benjamin, as well as many kind and devoted friends. Carol was predeceased by her sister Sandra Jacobs, whom she faithfully watched over for many years. Carol was a caring and generous person who, together with her husband Burton, enjoyed traveling and entertaining, and was a dedicated supporter of the arts. Carol was an active contributor to the Brandeis Foundation and served as a docent at the Wadsworth Atheneum. Carol loved theater and music and was an avid reader. She helped to form several book and movie clubs, both in Connecticut and at her second home in Tucson, Arizona. She was a member of Beth El Synagogue in West Hartford. Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at The Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery at 80 Wolcott Road, East Granby, Connecticut, with Rabbi James Rosen presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Brandeis National Committee or to the charity of your choice.
