Claire (Greenspon) Fegelman

d. January 1, 1970

Claire (Greenspon) Fegelman, 92 years of age, of West Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 with her family at her bedside. She was the beloved wife of the late Julius Fegelman. Born in Hartford and a resident of West Hartford for more than 60 years, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Pauline (Gross) Greenspon. There isn’t enough space here to truly give a sense of Claire’s life. Every day was full. For years, she worked alongside her husband running Pottery Shed. It was Claire who was responsible for the unique style of the store for nearly 20 years. She enjoyed travel but she also loved everything here in Hartford. She was an avid theatergoer and adored the symphony. One of her favorite pastimes was wandering art museums, stopping to study a painting and getting true joy in a brushstroke. She was an avid sports enthusiast, playing tennis, golf and skiing. She also spent countless hours as a volunteer, tutoring elementary school students, working at the Hadassah Thrift Shop and Heublein Tower and even walking the links as a volunteer scorekeeper at the Greater Hartford Open. Claire leaves her son, Andrew Fegelman and his wife, Leigh Behrens of Windsor, CA; her daughter, DeDe Lauterback and her husband, Steven of Morristown, NJ; her beloved granddaughters, Kate Scasso (Frank) and Ann Lauterback; a great grandson, her sister Rhoda Glickman as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her immensely.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 16,, 2017 at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 96 Wolcott Road, East Granby, CT with Rabbi Ilana Garber officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital.
