Claire (Pfeffer) Rosenberg

Claire B. (Pfeffer) Rosenberg, 90 years of age, of West Hartford, CT, formerly of Fairfield, CT, died after a brief illness on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. She was the widow of Louis Rosenberg. Born on May 13, 1926 in Newark, NJ; she was the daughter of the late Sol and Ruth (Plaine) Pfeffer. Claire leaves her family: Dr. Judith Rosenberg and Dr. Ellen Retelle, Stuart and Susan Rosenberg, David and Amy Rosenberg; her grandchildren Jessica Rosenberg -Pratt, Lydia Rosenberg, Max and Ossi Rosenberg, her great grandchildren Zohar and Asher Rosenberg, close family friends Linda Barile and Fran Arrowsmith, and her caregiver Patty Fink. Claire was predeceased by her long time companion, Dr. Michael Tartakovsky.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Claire met her husband visiting Bridgeport and resided in Fairfield for over 67 years. She was past president of Hadassah and was an active member Congregation B’nai Israel. Claire taught elementary school in the Trumbull school system for over 25 years. She had a Masters degree in Education. After retirement, Claire engaged in a variety of volunteer activities. Claire lived in West Hartford for the past three and half years. She was active in the SAGE program at Beth Israel Synagogue. Claire had a long and interesting life; she traveled extensively. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She touched many lives over her long life. Her life is a blessing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Eintracht S.B.A. Cemetery, 69 Shepard St., Fairfield, CT with Rabbi James Prosnit officiating. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her daughter on Saturday, October 8 from 7:00-9:00 and Sunday, October 9, 2:00-5:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SAGE program at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT.
