David Finkelstein

David Finkelstein, 69, of Hockanum Blvd., Vernon, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Born October 13, 1942 in Brookline, MA, he was the son of the late Louis and Sylvia (Nerlinger) Finkelstein. David spent his early years in Portland, ME, graduating from Portland High School and then moved to Connecticut in 1970 to work in engineering in several area companies. He lived in Glastonbury, Manchester and more recently in Vernon. Before retiring in 2008, he owned and operated Classic Fine Jewelry in Manchester with his wife and daughter, Debra. His greatest pleasure, besides being with his family, was playing golf at Ellington Ridge Country Club. He also loved to fly and had his private pilot’s license. He will be missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Paula (Kaufman) Finkelstein; daughters Debra Bouldin and her husband Kevin of Manchester, and Dr. Cheryl Shevy and her husband Dr. Mark Shevy of Marquette, MI; and his three grandsons: Joshua, Noah and Elijah Shevy of Marquette, MI. On his behalf, the family expresses its appreciation to the North Central Hospice for the wonderful care by their nurses, including Sharon Leist and Janet Greer; their aides, including Amy Rose; and their volunteer, Ruth Mensing, as well as many others. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Howard Herman officiating. A private period of mourning will be observed by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon 06066, or to the Michael J.
