David Reuben Goldfarb

David Reuben Goldfarb, 80, born February 12, 1943 , to Joseph and Blanche Goldfarb inHartford, CT, passed away on January 6, 2024. He attended Weaver and Conard High School, pursued his undergraduate studies at UConn, and earned his MBA from Boston University. Enlisting in the US Army after completing ROTC, David served in the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant. In his professional life, David spent 12 years in private and public accounting before dedicating 29 years to Connecticut Hospice inBranford, CT, where he retired as their CFO. Devoted to his family, David is survived by Sharon (nee Hecht) his beloved wife of 49 years, sons Joseph (Yafit) and Barzeli (Yehudis), eight grandchildren, and sister Zelda Polman. Predeceased by his brother Hyman and sister-in-law Elise Goldfarb. A man of service, David volunteered at St. Francis Hospital as a patient care advocate, at the Young Israel of West Hartford in various roles including serving on the board of directors, and at the Hebrew Academy of Greater Hartford (New England Jewish Academy) on the financial aid committee. He was the 2018 recipient of the H. Zachs Spirit of Judaism Award. Deeply religious, he was a pillar of the Young Israel of West Hartford where he served as gabbai (ritual coordinator) for decades. David’s caring nature extended to everyone around him. Known for checking on scores of people weekly and his sweet smile, he was famous for reciting and helping others say the Kaddish memorial prayer.
