Dorothy Rose (Furman) Beller, 83, of West Hartford, formerly of Norwich, died on Friday, June 23, 2006 at St. Mary Home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Mollie (Gerber) Furman. The family moved to Norwich when she was a young girl. Dorothy was a proud US Marine Corp Veteran of World War II. She was an avid member of Beth Jacob Synagogue in Norwich where she sang in the choir. Dorothy dedicated her life to raising her five daughters and eleven grandchildren, and is survived by her children: Margaret Beller of Auburndale, MA; Deborah Pompano and her husband Joseph of Hanover, VA; Wendy Huntington and her husband Richard of West Hartford; Laurie Sklar and her husband Norman of Costa Rica; and Sandra Miller and her husband Mark of Atkinson, NH; grandchildren: Rachel, Rebecca and Laura Pompano, Danielle Schulman and her husband Dan; and David and Elliot Borenstein, Lucy and Sydney Miller, Benjamin, Joshua and Daniel Huntington; and two sisters: Beatrice Beller and her husband Bernard of Norwich, and Judith Whitman and her husband Bernard of Sarasota, FL. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Sidney Beller and son Bruce Ira Beller. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 26 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery, Preston.
