Dorothy Rosenberg

Dorothy Silverherz Rosenberg passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Duncaster in Bloomfield, Connecticut. She was 88. Born in Ellington, Connecticut, the daughter of Sam and Hannah Silverherz. She grew up on a rural farm and was always encouraged in the arts. Dorothy was a Smith College graduate with a master’s from Wesleyan, danced with the New York City Ballet and performed on Broadway, including in the original company of Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Me and Juliet.” She was a founder of the Connecticut Valley Regional Ballet Company, Inc., and assisted in founding the Storybook Theatre Company where she trained dancers and actors in Greater Hartford/Springfield. Before her retirement in 2006, she held several dance teaching posts, including over 25 years at the Ethel Walker School. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Sanford L. Rosenberg, a prominent attorney in Hartford, Connecticut. She is survived by her son John Rosenberg, and daughter-in-law, Laura of Avon, Connecticut; a daughter Margaret (Rosenberg) Milsky and son-in-law Daniel of Chicago, Illinois; and her four grandchildren, Sasha, Bradley, Max and Noah.
