Dorothy Zweig (Ladofsky) 96, of Avon, CT and formerly of North Woodmere, New York, beloved matriarch of the Zweig family passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 14, 2021.
In her early years, Dorothy enjoyed working for the Building Department of the City of New York.
Dorothy (Dottie) was the beloved wife of Murray, who predeceased her in March 2011. Dottie was the adoring mother of Richard (Dianne), Elliot (Doreen), and Paula (Marilyn). She was known as Grandma Dubbie to Leah, Joshua (Becky), Sharon (Matt), Benjamin, Ian (Melissa), Scott (Julia), Robert (Kim), Rachel, Barry, and Jenny (Brittany). She was Great Grandma Dubbie to Cooper, Emma, Levi, Scarlett, Ava, Jack, Connor, Ryan, Russell, Maya, Miles, Rafael, and Judah.
Dottie was predeceased by her cherished sisters Frieda and Sally, and her brothers, Abe and Louie. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Dottie was proud of her three children and their accomplishments. She enjoyed attending holidays, graduations, birthday parties, and all simchas. In her later years, she relished the opportunity to use Facebook Portal and see her grandchildren and great grandchildren on the screen. She looked forward to her nightly
phone calls from her children. There was no greater joy than receiving a package of photos in the mail from her grandchildren. She proudly displayed them in her apartment, which she stocked with extra lox, chocolate babka and orange juice for her family.
A private graveside service will be held in New York.
The family would like to thank Annette, Matilda, Joyce and the Home Health aides from Jewish Family Services for the care they lovingly provided.
