Elaine (Perlman) Vogel, 87 years of age, of West Hartford, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late David L. Vogel. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Isabel (Engel) Perlman.

Elaine was an elementary school teacher in the Hartford Public School System for more than thirty years and loved teaching. She was an active member of Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield and of Beth Kodesh in Boynton Beach, Florida. Elaine enjoyed reading, opera, ballet and getting together with her many dear friends.

She leaves her sons, William Vogel and his wife Stephanie of Brooklyn, NY, Cantor Eliot Vogel and his wife Karen of Penn Valley, PA, her daughter, Harriet Vogel and her husband Russell Gontar of Medfield, MA, and her grandchildren, Alisa Fox and her husband Chaim, Adina Vogel- Ayalon and her husband Yoni, Alexander Gontar, Davida Vogel and David Vogel. Along with her other beloved nieces and nephews, she leaves two nieces who were like daughters to her, Joan Prensky and Arlene Reagan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, 15 Wolcott Road, East Granby, CT with Rabbi Gary Atkins officiating. Shiva will be observed between 1 and 6pm on Sunday at Hoffman SummerWood Community, 160 Simsbury Rd., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charitable organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
