Elaine (Bernstein) Zachs

Elaine (Bernstein) Zachs , 81 years of age, of West Hartford died Wednesday January 23, 2019. Born in Hartford the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Sharp) Bernstein. She is survived by husband of 61 years of Theodore “Ted” Zachs, sister Rhoda L. Bernstein, three sons Todd Zachs (Barbara), Jed Zachs (Brenda), and Ross Zachs (Michael), Grandchildren Daniel Zachs (Rebecca), Samantha Delorey (Drew), Gordon Zachs, and Kyle Zachs.

Elaine graduated Hall High School and attended Simmons College and University of St. Joseph. She was employed for 28 years by the Solomon Schechter Day School in West Hartford. She loved family, friends, cooking, humor.

We would like to thank the staff at Saint Mary Home and the hospice caregivers. We would especially like to thank Carolyn Zaccardo for the loving care she provided.

The funeral service will be held Friday January 25, 2019 in the Chapel of Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford at 1:30 pm with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson Street Extension, Avon. Calling hours will be Sunday and Monday: 1 – 4 pm and 6 – 8:30 pm with service at 7:00pm.
