Etta (Sherman) Golanski of Highland Street, West Hartford, formerly of Pontiac Road, West Hartford, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006. Born in Whitney Pier, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Faiga Sherman. Mrs. Golanski was a former member of Beth Hillel Synagogue, Bloomfield and of Hadassah. An avid sports fan, she was devoted to the Boston Red Sox, as well as UConn Women’s Basketball, whom she referred to as “her girls”. She leaves her husband, Solomon Golanski; a son: Alani Golanski and his wife Gina Schmeling of Brooklyn, NY, and a grandson: Creeley Leon Schmeling Golanski. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Wolkowysker Society Cemetery, Tower Ave., Hartford. A Memorial period will be observed at Hughes Health and Rehab, 29 Highland St., West Hartford on Friday, following the funeral.
