Gerald “Jerry” Norman Cohn, 85, of Windsor Locks, CT passed away peacefully on October 11, 2022 at Hartford Hospital following a sudden health event. He was born in Hartford to Barney and Bacia Cohn and attended Weaver High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed communications school in Virginia before being attached to the submarine division in New London, CT. He served his country for four years. He was then hired by The Hartford Courant where he retired after 36 years. Family was very important to Jerry. He doted on his beloved wife of 65 years, Sandra (nee Michaels) and his “three girls.” Jerry leaves behind Sandy and his daughters Arlyn (husband Marc), Marlene (husband Bob), and Randi; and five wonderful grandchildren Nicole, Ben and his wife Sidney, Natalie, and Taylor, and his great granddaughter Desmond. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Linda, and his wonderful dog Smokey. Jerry worked hard to provide for his family, sometimes working multiple jobs at once. He loved taking the five of them on a vacation each summer, entertaining his girls with silly antics, playing softball, and golfing. Jerry enjoyed trips to Ogunquit Maine with Sandy where they would shop and walk along Marginal Way. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Temple Beth Torah Cemetery in Wethersfield, CT. Weinstein’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
