Harriet (Berman) Scharf, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at her home. She was born in Louisville, KY, daughter of the late Sam and Selma Berman. She was the only woman in her class at the University of Louisville School of Engineering, and the second woman ever to graduate from this engineering program. She later went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Kentucky, and spent the remainder of her career as a psychologist. She was a remarkable, bright and energetic woman who traveled around the world without hesitation. She was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford. She is survived by her two daughters, Felice Brodsky of East Amherst, NY, and Carrie Wolfberg and husband Stuart Radin of Canton, CT, her granddaughter, Stephanie Schwartz of Delray Beach, FL and her step-grandchildren, Jordan and Carly Radin of Canton, CT. A small, private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harriet’s memory may be made to Congregation Beth Israel, SAGE Fund, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06119.
