Heather (Gross) Ahrens

On Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022 Heather G. Ahrens, beloved wife of Dr. Lawrence B. Ahrens, passed away peacefully. Born in Peekskill NY in 1936 to David and Sylvia Gross, Heather moved to CT to attend University of CT graduating in 1958. She was a teacher prior to becoming a mother. In the 1980’s, after years of practicing as a school psychologist, Heather graduated from Western New England Law School to become a family lawyer. Heather married Larry in 1993 and since that time they have traveled extensively to sail, ski, and explore. For almost 30 years they enjoyed spending winters in Coronado, CA. Her elegance, intellectual curiosity, resilience and authenticity made her a force to reckon with. One of her “super powers” was her ability to remember everyone’s name and complete the NYT crossword puzzle in pen! Even in her final years, with some memories fading, she could roll with the best of the Jeopardy contestants! Heather is survived by her loving husband Larry, her three children, Jamie Karp Stone, Dale Karp Lehman and Michael Karp; Larry’s three children, Linda Ahrens, Jeffrey Ahrens and Andrea Ahrens; and their collective twelve grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family will be celebrating her life in a private memorial.
