Ida Greenspon, a life time resident of Hartford , widow of Bernard Greenspon, founder of Regal Supply Company, died Sunday, (April 27, 2008). Ida was a loving, kind, and giving, mother, wife and friend to many. A true Hartford native, her parents emigrated from the Ukraine through Ellis Island. Her father Osher was a fruit peddler with his horse and cart. Yetta her mom was a very strong intelligent woman who raised four boys and a girl. Ida graduated from New Britain Normal School now Central Connecticut State College as a teacher. She loved teaching throughout her life, and has left that legacy with her grandchildren. Many of them are pursing a career in education. Her faith was an important part of her life from lighting the Sabbath candles to observing the various Jewish holidays. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ebner and her husband Lawrence of Potomac, MD; a son, Michael Greenspon and his wife Paula of Cary, NC; six grandchildren: Brittany Parks, Elizabeth Ebner, Rachel Ebner, Matthew Greenspon, Abra Greenspon and Ellis Greenspon. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers: Max, Joseph, Jack and Morris Davidson. A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 2:30 PM in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon, with Rabbi Stephen Fuchs officiating.
