Ilene ((Joseph)) Merin

Ilene (Joseph) Merin, 66 years of age, of Bloomfield, CT, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Mark J. Merin. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Kurt and Shirley Elsie (Glotzer) Joseph. For many years, as owner of Shades Unlimited by the Josephs, Ilene’s creativity graced many homes with window treatments and bedding. In addition to her husband; she leaves her sons, Jonathan L. Merin and his wife, Andrea of Watertown, MA, Seth J. Merin of Washington, DC and Eric S. Merin and his wife Rachel of New York, NY; her beloved granddaughter, Eliana G. Merin; her brother, Harvey Joseph and his wife, Kathleen of Atlanta, GA; as well as her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Michele and Bruce Campbell, her mother-in-law Dorothy Merin and many nieces and nephew. Ilene was predeceased by her sister, Carol Joseph Lubin and her father-in-law David Merin. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT with Rabbi Rami Schwartzer and Cantor Sanford Cohn officiating. Interment will follow in the B’nai Tikvoh-Sholom Cemetery, 10 Clubhouse Road, Windsor, CT. Immediately following the interment Shiva will be observed Wednesday and Thursday evening at her home, 27 Tamarack Drive, Bloomfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Ilene to the CT Alzheimer’s Association.
