Jack Mishkin

d. February 15, 2020

Jack Mishkin was born March 21, 1924 in Hartford, CT. Jack was the daughter of Aaron and Annie Mishkin. He is predeceased by his four siblings, Max, Mary, Lillian and Harriet. Jack worked many different jobs over the course of his life; all involved in customer service. For the last 35 years of his career he worked at Drug City/Brooks located in Bloomfield CT. Jack can be applauded for his positive work ethic and sense of responsibility towards any job he was doing. After he retired Jack volunteered for Bloomfield Senior Services running the store for other seniors who attended the center. The most important job he ever held however was being husband and father to his loving family. He also was an excellent grandfather to his grandchildren and his great grandson- all of whom made him so proud. Jack joined the Navy at 17 years of age. He was a radar technician on the USS Woolsey and received special commendation for sinking a German U-Boat. On October 18th 1953 Jack married June Block. The two were married for 60 years until her death in 2013. Although not an observant man in the traditional sense, Jack had a true love and respect for his Judaism. His greatest pleasures included visiting his son, Joel, a Rabbi, seeing him speak to and teach his congregation and visiting with his daughter Donna on Jewish holidays and eating her famous barbecued ribs. Jack leaves behind his children Donna and her husband Barry of West Hartford and Joel and his wife Beverly of New Jersey. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Eliana, her husband Mikey and son Jude, and three grandsons Micah, Evan and Alec. Jack will be missed but he will not be forgotten.
