JANET OBITUARY Janet Linda Bialeck, born November 16, 1939, passed away on October 11, 2021, a little over month before her 82nd birthday. She was predeceased by her parents, Sophie and Ray Bialeck and is survived by her brothers Richard and Alan Bialeck, her sister in law, Margery Bialeck and her nephew, Hal J. Bialeck and her niece, Alison (Craig) Rawlinson and her grandniece and 4 grand nephews. Janet was developmentally disabled but her life was full of the little things that occupy most people on a daily basis. She liked shopping for clothes and her birthdays were always a large celebration. Yes, November 16th was a monumental occasion for her when she would start the countdown more than 6 week before this important date. Most of all she looked forward to and enjoyed her Sunday breakfast “treat” (one egg, …) with one of her brothers followed by visits with her mother where she would watch a movie after brunch and her nightly calls to her friends George and Beth which were a ritual.. She worked for over 30 years at the laundry at Saint Francis Hospital and retired with a pension, a rare accomplishment for a mentally disadvantage person raised in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Her “five and twenty and one” bi weekly allowance was well spent on costume jewelry. Although Janet was developmentally disabled, she taught her brothers many things. She taught us that innocence is an inherent quality of most people. She taught us to be thankful for our physical and mental gifts. She taught us to be accepting of physical and behavioral differences. She taught us to be kind, understanding and patient. And she taught us the only intolerance we should have is the intolerance against bigotry. As she often said “I’m a good kid”. We hope we can live up to her standards. We love you J. The family would like to thank JCL for their efforts with special thanks to Deidre, Yvonne, Tiana and Donald. In addition we would like to thank the Murphy family who welcomed Janet into their family since she was child. Contributions in Janet’s memory may be made to JCL, 34 Jerome Ave Suite 109, Bloomfield, CT 06002. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 at the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT 06109 (in the back left and up the hill).
