Jean B. Cohen, 84, wife of the late Ralph L. Cohen passed away from ovarian cancer on June 9th, at home in Bloomfield, surrounded by her children. She was born on September 29, 1922 in Boston to the late Hyman and Lillian (Pure) Sandler. She leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter, Karen Lynn Taylor and her husband David of Bloomfield, a son, Jerold S. Cohen of New York City, a granddaughter Amanda Brooke Alfonso, her husband Alejandro and their son Raphael Tomas, of West Hartford. She was predeceased by her brother Leonard. Jean spent many happy years in Sharon, MA where she was a substitute teacher, having a major impact on the lives of hundreds of elementary school students. She was also an avid bridge player. While in West Palm Beach, she volunteered at Planned Parenthood of the Palm Beaches and other charities. She moved to Bloomfield in September 2003. The family would like to thank her doctors, nurses and aides, especially Gregory Sheehan, Beth Nelson, Susan Rabinowe, Elaine Scheinblum, Margaret Lagan, Mary Heeb, Mary Gulish, Donna and Josette for their care, love and support. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Cancer Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford 06105. Burial took place in West Palm Beach, FL. Local arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
