Jeff S. Tager (67) of Canton, CT, passed away July 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Hartford to the late Alfred “Al” and Evelyn “Evie” (Perler) Tager, Jeff was a long-standing member of the Bloomfield community. He graduated from Bloomfield High School, Boston University, and the University of Connecticut Law School before becoming a founding partner of Tager & Johnson Law Firm in Bloomfield. He also volunteered for 20+ years as an EMT with the Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance Service, served as the long-term Treasurer of Chabad of the Valley synagogue, and was active in the Rotary Club of Bloomfield, serving as Rotary District Governor in 2003-2004.
A beloved father, zaydee, brother, uncle, cousin, mentor, and friend, Jeff always had a kind word to say and a joke to tell. He was a loyal friend constantly ready to lend a hand. Throughout his life you could find him cooking his famous “synagogue chicken” at Beth Hillel, defending the rights of union members or insurance claimants, or, in his later years, playing cribbage on his hand-made boards.
He is survived by his wife Orit (Friedman) Tager of Canton; brothers Barry Tager of Avon and Lee and his wife Susan (Cashman) Tager of Avon; daughter Sara (Tager) Cooper and her husband Justin of New Windsor, NY; son Adam Tager and his wife Allison Schachter of Brooklyn, NY; nephew Brian Tager and his wife Katlin (Latham) Tager and their son Logan, and grandsons Cameron Cooper and Akiva Tager-Schachter.
