Joyce (Hershkovitz) Hershman

Joyce (Hershkovitz) Hershman, 87 years of age, of West Hartford, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Married for 58 years, she was the widow of Saul D. Hershman. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Ginsberg) Hershkovitz. During her adult life, she worked in the Hartford insurance industry. Joyce devoted her life to her family and her faith. She was a member of Congregation Agudas Achim of West Hartford. She was the loving mother of Lois Lipton and her husband Ian of Pottsville, PA, and Myrna Fienman and her husband Michael of West Hartford; and cherished grandmother of Stacey Lipton, Eric Lipton, Brooke Levin and her husband Randy, and Erica Fienman. She was predeceased by two sisters Burnette Birnbaum, Florence Hershman, and three brothers Saul Hershkovitz, Francis Hershkovitz and Lester Hershkovitz. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Brahm Weinberg officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. Shiva will be observed Thursday following the interment, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon and evening at the home of Myrna and Michael Fienman, 19 King Edward Rd., West Hartford.
