Judith (R) Platkin

Judith Rella Platkin, 75, of Simsbury, CT, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Judie was born in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Samuel J. Tilden High School and Brooklyn College, where she studied early childhood and elementary education. Judie was a beloved member of the community in Simsbury, CT for more than 45 years and was a realtor in that area for more than 35 years, helping countless families find homes there. Judie was an avid (and competitive) player of games during her life, including bridge, canasta, and mahjong. She also loved doing crossword puzzles, including The New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle.Judie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Judie leaves her children, Melissa Chavin and her husband James of London, England, Cary Platkin and his wife Leslie McKnew of Burlingame, CA, and Jamie Sternberg and her husband Michael of West Simsbury, CT; her sister, Sydell Topol of Smithtown, NY; and eight grandchildren, Sabine and Romy Chavin, Aidan, Finn and Casey Platkin, and Ethan, Molly and Everett Sternberg.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 in the morning on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Sanctuary of Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom, 55 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury, CT with Rabbi Bekah Goldman officiating. Following this service, the family will receive relatives and friends at Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom. The interment will be at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 in the morning. Following the interment, the family will have refreshments for relatives and friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom.
