Klara (née Zalkina) Izikson, a remarkable woman who faced every challenge life presented with strength and grace, passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 99.5 after a long, fulfilling, and at times difficult life. Born in Gomel, Belarus, on May 25, 1925, she demonstrated incredible resilience and adaptability, overcoming numerous hardships. As a WWII Holocaust survivor, she never took anything for granted and found joy in life’s simple pleasures—whether attending the theater, traveling to new places, or entertaining family and friends.
Klara and her husband, Abraham, were the heart and soul of every gathering, hosting unforgettable parties in their home. She prepared the most delicious meals from scratch, and together they were an exceptional team. A true fashionista, she sewed beautiful, trendy clothes for herself and her children. Fluent in three languages—Russian, Yiddish, and English—she was a woman of many talents and passions.
While the list of her achievements and contributions to those around her could go on, Klara was ultimately the glue that held her family together. She will be deeply loved and forever remembered by all who were fortunate to know her, including her three daughters, Lilya, Olga, and Lana; her five grandchildren, Elina, Eugena, Barbara, Ruvim, and Kevin; and her nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Arielle, Rachel, Phineas, Parker, Mila, and Goldie. Klara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Abraham Izikson, and her sister, Tanya Besnosov.
A heartfelt thank you to Gulnara for her unwavering love and exceptional care, providing constant support and comfort to Klara until the very end. Your kindness and dedication will always be remembered.
