Laura Seaman

December 30, 1927 — April 8, 2025

Laura Seaman, 97, beloved and exemplary wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.  She was surrounded by family and loved ones.  Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1927 to the late Benjamin and Ida Mogil, Laura moved with her parents and her late sisters, Florence and Irma, to Hartford, CT.  She graduated from Weaver High School in 1944.

She married the love of her life and soulmate, Leonard Seaman, in 1952.  They lived in Hartford and Newington, CT before settling in Avon CT, where they shared an idyllic life till Leonard's death in 2004.  They also spent many winters in Boca Raton where days were filled with golf, social events, joy and laughter.

Through thick and thin her loyalty and love were unwavering.  While her husband struggled to build a business, she made sure he had no other worries, running the household with military precision and raising her sons, Robert and Richard.  She was a member of various women’s clubs and enjoyed playing Mahjong, where she was known as a tough competitor.  Her later years were spent enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed watching her grandson, Brad's basketball games, first as a player then as a coach.

She is survived by her children; Robert Seaman and his fiancé, Lauren Arpel Newman and Richard Seaman and his wife Candi; seven grandchildren: Heather Sprouse (Jayson), Jacquelyn Broomall (William), Brad Seaman and his fiancé Katherine McMahon, Blair Seaman, Shelby Seaman, Michael Seaman and William Seaman; four great grandchildren: Ethan Sprouse, Emily Sprouse, William Broomall and Benjamin Broomall.

A private family service will be held.
