Lawrence Boardman

Lawrence (Larry) Boardman, of Weatogue, (AKA CarGuy) age 76, passed away on February 23rd, 2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Morton Boardman and Frieda Boardman-Reisner. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart Carol who were married for 55 years. Larry is survived by daughter Marnie Rubin and her spouse Jody Rubin and her daughter Jaden Balaski. Also, he leaves his son Dr. Adam Boardman and his spouse Sonia Shah and their children Heera and Ravi Boardman. Larry is survived by his sister, Rhoda Winik. Larry was an animal lover and will be missed by his 5 rescued cats.

He graduated Bloomfield High School in 1965, and then served in the USAF in Panama and Guam. Larry was a electro-mechanical engineer and worked for several firms in both engineering and sales/marketing before becoming a serial entrepreneur. His love for cars both new and antique was well known. He formed Classic Wheels LLC, an antique auto appraisal firm, from 2004 until 2019. He was a member of the Valley Collector Car Club for over 20 years and served as a multiple term President and Director. As a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America since 2004, he advanced to being a Senior Master National Judge. Locally he served on the Simsbury Public Building Committee and the Simsbury Zoning Board of Appeals. He maintained that having a positive attitude along with excellent medical care, allowed him to extend his life considerably. Larry believed “it’s the quality of life that counts most vs the quantity of years lived”. Our gratitude to all the staff at the Gray Cancer Center in Avon, especially Dr. Timothy Hong and Nurse Jennifer Brown.

Larry’s funeral service will be held on Monday February 26, 2024 at 11am.
