Marc (Silver) D

d. January 23, 2021

Marc D. Silver, 68, of West Hartford, on January 23, suddenly, at home. He was born March 25, 1952 in Pittsburgh, the oldest child of Rabbi Harold and Ruth Lee Silver. He moved to Connecticut when he was a teenager, but still rooted for Pittsburgh sports teams all his life. He graduated from Holy Cross in 1974 with a degree in history. He spent most of his professional life in the financial industry, first for Connecticut National Bank, then as head of transportation for the Hartford branch of Bank of America, and then for several mortgage companies. He married his wife Beverly in 1986. Everyone who knew them could tell that they were completely devoted to each other; neighbors called them “two peas in a pod.” He was also a dedicated stepfather, endlessly supportive and caring. He was kind, generous, quiet, and steady; the person that everyone else counted on. He was an active member of the Simsbury Light Opera Company; and Congregation Beth Israel’s Brotherhood and choir. He enjoyed golf, had an incredible mind for trivia, and loved reading nonfiction, especially about 20th century history; he had just finished reading President Obama’s autobiography. He is survived by his wife Beverly, stepdaughter Rebecca Slitt of South Hadley, MA; sister Jenny Silver and her husband Lauren Kaplan of Leverett MA, sister Molly Silver and her husband Marty Teicher of Brookline MA; nephews Micah Snyder, Eli Burstein, Judah Silver, and Ezra Burstein; and great-nephew Caleb Snyder. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael.
