Marilyn (R.) Stern

Marilyn (Yalen) Stern, 90 years of age, of formerly of Bloomfield, CT died Monday, April 29, 2019 in Vancouver, WA where she was recently residing. She was the wife of Elliott Stern who predeceased her in 2007. Born in Hartford, CT July 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Betty (Kaminsky) Yalen.

Marilyn graduated from Weaver High School in 1946 and later worked at the school. She was a voracious reader and participated in many volunteer organizations. She was devoted to her family and her nearest and dearest friends remained those whom she met in elementary school in Hartford. She and Elliott raised their family in Bloomfield and later retired to Boca Raton, FL joining up with many of those elementary school friends similarly retired.

She leaves her daughters, Robin L. Stern and her husband Potter Stewart Jr. of Brattleboro, VT, and Beth Stern and her partner Donald Grady of Vancouver, WA; and her grandchildren, Sybil Rebecca (Idelkope) Przeszlowski and her husband Andrzej Przeszlowski of Cape Elizabeth ME, and Isabel Maryann Stewart of Brattleboro, VT.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 50 Wolcott Rd., East Granby, CT with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating.
