Martha Jo Caplan, 63 years of age, of West Hartford, CT died Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Born in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of Eleanor (Neiditz) Caplan of West Hartford, CT, and the late Jerome E. Caplan. Martha graduated from Hall High School, West Hartford, CT. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and her annual trips to Cape Cod. Martha loved her family and friends and was especially fond of her cats. She was a devoted member of the Emanual Synagogue and its supportive community. Besides her mother, Martha leaves a brother, Richard Caplan, and his wife, Laurie of Wilmington, VT, and two nephews, Jonathan Joseph Caplan and Nathan Jerome Caplan. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her two dedicated companions, Kristen Hart and Sandy Stavens. A small, private funeral was held Friday, December 4, 2020, in Bloomfield, CT, interment followed at the Emanual Synagogue Cemetery in Wethersfield, CT with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerome and Eleanor Caplan Fund at the Emanual Synagogue or the CT Humane Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
