Martin ("Mike") Hollm

Mike died peacefully at the Hebrew Home in W. Hartford, on February 13, 2016 at the age of 85. He is survived by his adoring wife, Judy of 60 years; children, Steve and his wife, Martha of N. Granby, Rick and his wife Kim, of Colorado Springs, CO, Donna Fisher, and her husband, Simon of Tucson, AZ; his 7 grandchildren, Laurie Smith, Sarah, David, Brian, and Sam Hollm, and Melanie & Brandon Fisher. He is predeceased by his his sister, Etta Hollm. Mike graduated from Weaver High School in 1948, and attended the University of Connecticut. He was a member of Phi Sigma Delta, where he met the love of his life, Judy. After beginning his career in the electrical business at Capitol Light & Supply, Mike began his own lighting business, and eventually partnered to create PDI, before retiring and moving to Boynton Beach, FL. His children remember him as a kind, gentle and patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was a dedicated and courageous volunteer. His extensive work with the Greater Hartford Jaycees led him to co-chair the ICO, and as a volunteer fireman for the town of Simsbury accomplished his goals to be part of a strong community to help others. He was a generous, witty, and dedicated husband, dad, grandfather, businessman, and dear friend who will be greatly missed by all. A memorial is scheduled for Friday, February 19th at 11:30 a.m. at the Hebrew Home, 1 Abrahams Blvd, W. Hartford. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mike’s life. Friends and family are invited to join us for a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Kidney Foundation or The American Heart Association .
