Martin Labinger

April 20, 1968 — March 2, 2025

Martin “Marty” Labinger, beloved husband of Lisa (Hurwitz) married for nearly 32 years, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 at home in Somerville, Mass. He was born on April 20, 1968 to Stanley and Andrea Labinger. The family moved to West Hartford where he went to school and graduated from Conard. He continued his education in the threshold program at Lesley College where he met his wife Lisa and from which they both graduated in 1990. He worked for Opportunity for Inclusion as a job coach for intellectually disabled individuals where he was loved and respected by everyone he knew. He was a hard worker and helpful person who could be counted on to do most anything. He loved sports, especially the Bruins and animals and especially enjoyed taking care of his neighbor Liz’s dog Kenya. He enjoyed movies, spending time at the beach, listening to music, taking leisurely walks with Lisa, sitting at the park watching the ducks play and going on outings in Boston. He is survived by his mother, Andrea, his sister, Amy Gothers, his nephews, Jake and Ryan Gothers, his aunt and uncle Suzanne and Michael Kaplan, his cousins Marc (Betsy) Kaplan, Steven (Tracy) Kaplan and their children and Brett (Donna) Feinstein. Other survivors include his sisters-in-law Gwen (Steve) Larsen and Rayna (David) Richardson and their children. Also, he leaves his childhood friends Joey, Matt, David and Eddie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his father Stanley, his aunt Janet Feinstein and his in-laws Joanne and Mike Hurwitz. A memorial service will be held at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06119 on Thursday March 6, 2025 at 11A.M. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
