Mary ((Hamill)) Rutenberg

Mary Rutenberg, 74 years of age, of West Hartford, CT died Thursday May 28, 2015. Born in New York, she was the daughter of Thomas Hamill and Agnes McRell. She was an executive assistant for the Honorable U.S. Senator Thomas Dodd. She leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Gideon Rutenberg of West Hartford; her brother John Hamill and his wife Bonnie of West Hartford; her sister Claire Rosen and her husband Seth of Westerly, RI; her children, Julie Spivak and her husband Jay of Avon, Jonathan Rutenberg and his wife Terry of Farmington, and Jessica Peake and her husband Cy of West Simsbury, as well as her six grandchildren, Alexander, Rachel, Zachary, Blake, Caroline and Shane. Mary would do anything for her family, her children and her friends. She touched the lives of so many people with her unconditional love and genuine kindness. She was quick-witted and adored her many, many friends. “Nana Mary” will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2015 in the Sanctuary of Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Jackson St. Ext., Avon. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at Beth El Temple. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
