Max Cohn

d. January 1, 1970

Max Cohn, 93 years old, died at his South Windsor home on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, after a short illness. He was with his family. Max was the husband of the late Helen Bernice (Minsk) Cohn. Max was born in Hartford in 1922, one of 7 children, including his identical twin brother, Harry. Max and Harry attended Weaver High School in Hartford, where they were star athletes in baseball and basketball. They looked so much alike that one of the twins was known to “sub” for the other on dates, when required. The girls apparently never knew! Max enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, serving as an Aerial Engineer. During the war, he was stationed in Burma and stateside. Max married the love of his life, Helen in 1947, and they raised their family in Windsor. For most of his working life, Max sold life insurance for Prudential retiring in 1981. Sports were a huge part of Max’s life. In addition to watching his children and grandchildren play sports, he was an avid NY fan, particularly the NY Yankees and Giants. Max leaves his four children and their families: Andrew Cohn and his wife Joy of Wyndmoor, PA; Geoffrey Cohn and his wife Laura of Branchburg, NJ; Wendy Cohn and her husband Mark Termini of Brecksville, OH; and Robert Cohn and his wife Jean of South Windsor; and seven grandchildren: Alex, Ellen, Rachel, Erin, Abigail, Ben and Ethan Cohn. Max was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and would share the details with all who would listen.
