Meyer Seth Rosen of Willimantic, Connecticut, passed away after a long and hard fought illness on March 26, 2021. Meyer is survived by his children Benjamin Rosen (Laura Cardwell) and Emily Rosen (Michael Jordan), his longtime partner Susan Gay Flanagan, and his siblings Arnold Rosen, Sidney Rosen and Linda Gerall, as well as many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He was predeceased by his father Louis Rosen, mother Nettie Rosen, and sister Janet Miller. Meyer led an interesting and varied career that included driving a large truck for his family’s chicken packing business at age 13, life as a teamster on the Alaskan Pipeline, working as a government contractor on the Aleutian Islands, driving taxicab in Boston, serving as jack of all trades at Willimantic’s Shaboo Inn, and most recently a long tenure in the electrical supply business in both Connecticut and Florida. A connoisseur of live music and good conversation, Meyer was a well-read student of life who cherished human connection, making people laugh, and being surrounded by friends and family, particularly while enjoying a good meal. Meyer approached life one day at a time and celebrated over 30 years in recovery. A socially distanced, graveside service will be held at the Temple Bnai Israel Cemetery (227 Stafford Road, Mansfield, CT) on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of his favorite live music venues, the Recovery Club in Windsor, Connecticut, where he spent many happy nights with those whom he loved most. Meyer’s family offers our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the hundreds of dedicated caregivers at Hartford Hospital who provided comfort to Meyer during his time of need.
