Michael (Harris) Goldberg

Michael Harris Goldberg, 71, of West Hartford, son of the late Gerald and Lois Goldberg, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.

Michael is survived by his best friend and wife, TJ (Tager) Goldberg, and their two daughters: Mindy Goldberg and Heidi (Goldberg) Hanson and husband, Michael, and two beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Dayna Hanson. He is also survived by his sister, Jill (Goldberg) Guy and husband, David, and brother, Mark Goldberg and wife, Janet. He also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Michael served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany for two and one-half years. He carried with him a Snoopy Red Baron figure that his mother had given him, which remains showcased with his vast CD collection. Michael passed his love of Snoopy & the Peanuts Gang onto his daughters. Michael worked for CarQuest Auto Parts for 30 years, having to take an early retirement due to the onset of Parkinson’s Disease.

Michael was a quiet man but when he had something to say it was often a “zinger”, followed by a red-faced grin and cackle. He loved his wife of 48 years with all of his heart, and cherished having two sweet daughters, a wonderful son-in-law, and two precious grandchildren, who lovingly called him, Pop. He was so proud of Andrew for his love of electronics, and Dayna for her love of sports.

Michael greatly enjoyed so many things: watching Yankees Baseball with his brother, Mark; TV comedy classics; music from the 1950s to the present; delicious Maryland crab cakes and special visits to Mohegan Sun with his best buddies.

A graveside funeral service for Michael will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Road, East Granby, CT. Due to inclement weather, the memorial period will begin at TJ & Michael’s home on Thursday, March 22, 2018, and will continue through Friday, March 23, 2018 until 4:00 pm.
