Muriel ((Solomon)) Bartnick

d. January 1, 1970

The music has stopped for our beautiful dancing queen, Muriel Bartnick of West Hartford, CT. Though subdued by Alzheimers for many years, her sweet smile and “that twinkle in her eye” were cherished by all fortunate enough to know her. Muriel was predeceased by her loving husband, Lenny Bartnick, as well as her brothers and sister, Henry Solomon, Milton Solomon and Audrey Finn. Born in Rome, NY, on January 4, 1920, she was the 4th child of the late Meyer and Ida (Epstein) Solomon. She led a joyful, active life, always in demand for a golf or tennis game. If none were available she was off on her bicycle for the exercise and activity she craved. The center of her world, though, was her loving family and the swirl of friends that always surrounded the Bartnick house in Utica. Everyone was always welcome the refrigerator was perpetually full and the music was always on for dancing. She was Utica’s Thoroughly Modern Millie, Pollyanna and Auntie Mame all rolled into one delicious heart. Her innate wisdom, loving kindness, easy demeanor and selfless spirit were at her core and brought great comfort, humor and delight to her children and grandchildren. The plaque over her kitchen sink said it all about her ever positive view of life, “When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade”. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Roston (Jay) of West Hartford, CT, Gary Bartnick (Gail) of Marietta, Ga, Marc Bartnick (Debi) of Winter Park, FL and grandchildren Eric Roston, his wife Karen and their daughter Madeline, Joel Roston and his wife Jordyn, Todd Bartnick, his wife Shannon and their daughters Nyx and Jax, and Jill Bartnick. The funeral will be private for family. Shiva will be observed Tuesday October 17, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Roston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Temple Beth El, 2710 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13502. Our enormous gratitude to her extraordinary caregivers who, so lovingly, took care of her. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT. For further information, or to sign the guest book for Muriel, please visit online at www.weinsteinmortuary.com/funerals.cfm.
