Normand (A.) Ganes

Normand A. Gaines of West Hartford, CT peacefully passed away on Saturday (August 18, 2012). Born in Springfield, MA to Anna (Lasky) and Louis Ginsburg on January 31, 1927. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Fraeda (Kamen) Gaines. Normand was a loving, dedicated father to his children, Ellen Dressler of Cranston, RI and Howard Gaines of West Hartford. The true joy of his life was his four granddaughters, Cara and Shelby Dressler and Alexa and Jamie Gaines. Also left are a special friend, Rachel Singer, supportive sister and brother in-law, Janice and Robert Klein, along with many adoring nieces and nephews. Normand enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WW II at age 17 and trained to be a medic. After graduating college from AIC, he eventually began a 30 year career as an independent insurance agent. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, bird watching, fishing and the NY Giants. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 20 at 1 p.m. the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby, CT. The family will be sitting at Normand’s home on Monday afternoon and evening. The family would like to thank the Drs. Robert Frost, Nathan Lassman and the nurses at Saint Francis Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation .
