Paul M. Silversmith, 86 years of age, of Bloomfield, CT, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Gerri (Petluck) Silversmith. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late L. Fisher and Mollie (Kenig) Silversmith. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his daughters, Sarah Kindl and her husband William, of Granby, CT and Rona Silversmith of Cromwell, CT; his six beloved grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Griffin, Stacey (Gavin) Kearns, Erin (Patrick) Guinan, Jeffrey Griffin, Julie (Mark) Richardson and Rachel (Tyler) Currier; and his two adored great grandchildren, Kelty Guinan and Elias Kearns. Paul graduated from Suffield Academy and attended RPI. He was an active member of the West Hartford Regents, U.S. Power Squadron and BP Mug. He was employed by the State of Connecticut for 36 years, although he retired and went on to other endeavors. He finally retired at the age of 79. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Kenig Family Circle Cemetery, Hurlburt Street, West Hartford, CT. Immediately following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at the Silversmith home for a luncheon. Shiva will be observed Thursday, Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon and evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worcester Public Library Foundation, 3 Salem Square, Worcester, MA 01608 or the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCONN Health, 263 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06030-1834.
