Pearl Leichter, 89, formerly of Orangeburg, NY and widow of Seymour Leichter, passed away at Brookdale Place, West Hartford, CT on July 24, 2015. Pearl was born on February 21, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to Minnie and Barnett Levy. She lived most of her life in New York City and Orangeburg. Pearl spent many years working as a bookkeeper at businesses such as T. Charles Beauty Supply and Oak Beverage, with a work break to bring up her children. Friends were very important to her and she maintained strong bonds throughout her life. She was an avid Mah Jongg player and in her later years learned to play Bridge. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. She also loved to travel and spent many years, first with her late husband Seymour, and then with friends, traveling to Canada, Israel, Europe, and China, as well as around the US. Pearl is survived by her daughters, Wendy Keyser and her husband Dan of Albany, NY, Beth Mantell and her husband Rodd of Bristol, CT and her son, Jeffrey Leichter of Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA; and by her grandsons Michael Keyser and Richard and Mark Mantell. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Edith Schafer. We wish to thank the staff at Brookdale Place, Life Choice Hospice and the private aides who helped make Pearl’s last months and days comfortable. Services will be held graveside at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Shiva will be held at the home of Beth and Rodd Mantell on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hadassah or to a charity of your choice
