Pearl ((Winokur)) Spigel

Pearl (Winokur) Spigel, 97, daughter of Jacob and Minnie Winokur, died on January 29, 2018. Born in Philadelphia on April 11,1920, Pearl was the youngest of four sisters, Francis, Evelyn, and Rae, all of whom predeceased her. She was happily married to Hy Spigel for almost 60 years before his death in 2004. They were partners in life and in business and in traveling the world together. Pearl was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; a dutiful caregiver to her mother and sister; Fran, and a great friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her son Saul and daughter-in-law Esther; her grandchildren, Jessie and Ben and his wife, Emily; and nieces Sharon Whelan and Dale Ross. Many thanks to the caregivers at Arden Court, Farmington, especially Emma Addo and Tabbitha Washington, who so conscientiously saw to her needs. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 1 at 1 p.m. at Weinstein Funeral Home, 630 Farmington Ave. Hartford. A service will also be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at 134 Argyle Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pearl’s memory may be made to Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd. Newington, CT 06111.
