Phyllis (Rotfuss) Pivnick, 94, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Chestelm Health & Rehabilitation Center in Moodus. She had been living at The Saybrook of Haddam, an assisted living community for the past five years. Phyllis was born, raised and lived in Moodus for 89 years.
She is survived by her granddaughter Shayna Pivnick of Arizona and several nieces. She was the daughter of the late Esther and Morris Rotfuss. Beside her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by the love of her life Seymour, her sons Lenn and Mark and her sisters.
With Seymour and his parents, they owned and operated the popular Grandview Resort & Camp in Moodus for many decades. After selling the hotel in the mid-1970s, she and Seymour built a home in Moodus, and Phyllis became a substitute teacher at the high school.
A graveside service will be held at the Colchester Jewish Aid Cemetery on Monday, January 30, at 2 PM, with Rabbi Kenneth Alter officiating.
