Richard (J.) Sackter

Richard J. Sackter, 77, of Bloomfield, CT and Delray, FL, loving husband of 57 years to Frances M. Sackter passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 2, 2015. Born in Hartford February 24, 1938, son of Milton and Lillian Sackter, he attended local schools and graduated Weaver High in 1956. Throughout his life his closest friends were his original classmates. He was “Richie” to his Hartford friends and “Dick” to his Florida friends. He owned the Shell gas station in Hartford for 25 years before moving to Florida and buying another station. To those who really knew him, you know of his love of cars and you would always find them in pristine condition.

He was a loving and devoted husband to Frances Sackter, father to Robert Sackter (Barbara), Wendi Hunt (Jay) and Amy Peltz (Mark), grandfather of 5 (Ashley, Samuel, Jessica, Alexander and Benjamin) and great grandfather to 3 (Auron, Raiden and Silas). Richard was adored by his sister Nancy Kamins and her husband David and his many friends.

Funeral services will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 12:45pm to 3:00pm at Simsbury Inn, 397 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, CT 06070. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA in his memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
